    PREPaRE Workshop 2, Mental Health Crisis Interventions: Responding to an Acute Traumatic Stressor in Schools (3rd Edition)

    The Kansas Association of School Psychologists and Fort Hays State University Department of Psychology are pleased to offer NASP's PREPaRE Workshop#2, 3rd Edition: Mental Health Crisis Intervention: Responding to Acute Traumatic Stressors at School for school psychologists, school counselors, school social workers, and other school mental health providers who may respond to crises in the schools.  

    Please note that it is not necessary to take PREPaRE Workshop 1 prior to taking this workshop.

    When: Thursday, January 11th and Friday, January 12th , 2024

    Time: 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (check-in opens 8:30 a.m. on January 11)

    Where: Fort Hays State University’s Sternberg Museum of Natural History: Expeditions Meeting

    Room 3000 Sternberg Drive, Hays, KS 67601

    Cost: KASP Member $135; Non-Member: $150; Early Career Member: $85; Student Member: $75

    Perks: Light breakfast, lunch, beverages, and snacks will be provided at no cost to participants

    Registration:  Online registration is now available - click the "REGISTER" button.  Teams from schools/districts are recommended, but individuals are welcome.  If registering a team, you may enter a "primary" participant and then enter all other team members as guests, this will allow for an 'invoice' to be generated for the entire team.   Attendance at both days for the entirety of the workshop is required of all participants, along with completion of pre/post tests and evaluations to receive certification as PREPaRE Workshop #2 trained. Participant materials must be ordered prior to the workshop, as such, on-site and walk-in registrations will not be accepted. Registrants will receive digital access to workshop materials in advance of the workshop and instructions to download via email prior to the workshop. Printed materials will not be provided by the workshop sponsors. Please note that registration is limited to 40 participants and that registration will close on November 30th.

    Payment:  Payment via credit card is accepted. 

    Cancellations: KASP reserves the right to cancel the workshop if a minimum number of registrations is not received by December 1.  Full refunds will be made to registrants if KASP must cancel due to low registration numbers. Individuals may cancel up to December 15th for refund of 1/2 of registration due to costs that will have been incurred regardless of attendance. 

    CPD's: Participants are eligible for 13 hours NASP approved CPD.  Participants must sign in for both morning and afternoon sessions. A certificate of attendance will be distributed following the conclusion of the final afternoon session and upon receipt of the evaluation forms. KASP is a NASP approved provider of CPDs (NASP #1030 provider).

    School Mental Health Awareness Day is a partnership of KASP, KSCA, KSSWA, and KSNO intended to communicate the importance of support for school based mental health.

    There will be a morning agenda with speakers provided at a later date. 

    The afternoon session is designed to allow participants to attend hearings and meet with local legislators to share information about school-based mental health. Please schedule your meetings with legislators PRIOR to the event. 

    Registration is free and lunch is on your own.
